Odds are you clicked on this post because you saw the word acne or eczema. For pretty much my entire life I have been trying products and treatments to treat my eczema. I got eczema on my face for the first time a few years ago. I was going through an extra stressful time and the ever painful rash popped up in my usual spots: the backs of my thighs and the crook of my arm. Only for the rash to also pop up on my neck and my under-eye area. I was so frustrated. I thought to myself how in the world do I handle combination skin with regular bouts of hormonal acne as well as eczema on my face.
Before we get into the review here are the highlights of products that have worked for me in the past:
For Acne: Dr.Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads, Pixi Glow Tonic, Differin, The Ordinary Retinol 2% in Squalane
For Eczema: Aquaphor, CeraVe, dermatologist prescribed steroid creams
The above mentioned products work but need to be switched out regularly. It’s like my skin gets used to the products I apply and after a few months they quit working. Not to mention prescription strength steroid creams are not a long term fix. Needless to say when I found a product that seemed to help both my acne and eczema I was ecstatic.
Tower 28 S.O.S Daily Rescue Facial Spray Review
The 411: Tower 28 created this product as a solution to “angry skin”, think environmental stressors and bacteria. The star ingredient is hypochlorous acid. Hypochlorous acid is found in white blood cells and helps protect and repair irritated skin. When you get down to it this spray is made from water, sodium chloride, and hypochlorous acid. The Tower 28 team figured out how to shelf stabilize the typically unstable acid, making it perfect for use on your face and body. Not to mention the SOS Spray received the National Eczema Association’s Seal Of Acceptance.
Why I’m Obsessed: It’s balance in a bottle. I use SOS Spray morning and night immediately after cleansing my skin. Over the past four weeks I noticed more even looking skin, and less flare ups. As a self proclaimed skincare aficionado I live to try new products. But trying new products can be incredibly risky with my sensitive skin. This spray ensures my skin is protected and balanced from the get go, even if I am trying a new product. When my skin is feeling especially temper-mental I strip my skincare routine back to micellar water, SOS Spray, and CeraVe moisturizer.
p.s. When I am having an eczema flare up I mist the SOS Spray right on my body. I keep the travel size bottle in my purse for those on the go eczema nightmare moments.
