Here it is guys the first installment in my “Chicago By Neighborhood” series. What could be more perfect for my first post than my own neighborhood! Especially since last weekend I officially upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom. Not to mention I locked down the best roommate ever, AKA Joel. I have lived in Gold Cost for just over a year now and I love it. To sum Gold Coast up it is full of tasty restaurants and fun bars. It is unbelievably close to the lake and makes for my dream commute. Overall my neighborhood is just stunning.
The Lay of the Land
Where is Gold Coast? Is it really that close to Old Town? When I first moved to Chicago it took some time for me to get the lay of the land. It took even longer to understand where one neighborhood ends and another begins. I found a map that perfectly shows where Gold Coast ends and begins(in my opinion). Surrounded by Lincoln Park to the north, Streeterville to the southeast, River North to the south, and Old Town to the west.

Where to Eat and Drink in Gold Coast

Eduardo’s Enoteca
Eduardo’s Enotecta is literally a stones throw away from my apartment. It is cute, cozy, and has an adorable patio. This place is ideal for grabbing cocktails and a charcuterie board. The atmosphere is great for date night or when you have family in town. Pro tip: sit on the patio(they are open late), have an Aperol Spritz, and enjoy the peacefulness found just a half block from the craziness on Division.
3 Arts Club Cafe
Doesn’t this photo say it all? 3 Arts Club Cafe is the Cafe inside Restoration Hardware(the most beautiful furniture store). Brunch draws a big crowd. They don’t take reservations and doors open at 10am. I suggest avoiding the crowd by going for an after work cocktail!
p.s. don’t forget to check out the roof!
8 Bar
8 Bar is located right in the heart of Gold Coast and has one fun patio. The food is good(peep the photo of the burger on their website). The cocktail list is also pretty bomb. This is the perfect place for a late night patio dinner with friends.
Velvet Taco
Velvet Taco is the quintessential quirky, hip taco spot in Gold Coast. They’ve got all kinds of tacos ranging from Al Pastor to Poke. Grab one for a snack or a whole platter for sharing.
p.s. don’t overlook the Crispy Tots
Things to Do
Hang Out by the Lake
One of the best things about Gold Cost is the proximity to the lake. Most weeknights I go for a run on the path and am astounded by the beauty. Other times I like to take a chair and a book and find a cozy spot by the lake. In short I want to spend as much time by the water during #summertimechi as possible. If you are visiting I would highly suggest hopping on a Divvy bike and cruising a few miles on the trail!
Dream House Hunt by Foot
Hop on over to Astor street and prepare to be astounded by the homes. Every house is glorious and beautiful in its own way. Not to mention if you are a plant nerd like me there is some of the most unique landscaping I have ever seen.
