The past year or so has been chock full of change. Throughout the change I remind myself that this is just a season.
I can feel that I’m approaching the beginning of a new season in my life. There are intentions swirling around in my head, and while I’m still not sure exactly what is to come, I can sense powerful things are on the horizon. Yesterday I looked back at my journal entries trying to pinpoint when I started feeling less scared and more confident as I look to the near future. The shift started after attending a “Side Hustle” conference hosted by Amanda Boelyn from She Did It Her Way(podcast). Coming out of the conference I focused on being intentional and following what energizes me.
Follow What Energizes You, And Know That What Energies You Can(and will) Change
When is the last time you were energized by something in your life? I’m talking about the type of energy that makes you mometairly forget how tired you are. The type that makes you feel like you just had a killer latte and are ready to take on the world.
I feel energized when I..
Unplug and spend a few hours in a coffee shop writing new content for the blog(like I am right now!)
Find a new makeup or skincare product that is AWESOME
Am on site at an event. I have worked in events since college and being on site to see the event come together constantly lights me up!
Day dream up new outfits by mixing and matching random things in my closet to find the perfect unexpected combination. I’m usually listening to Lizzo loudly throughout this process
Turn the blinders on and make decisions for ME. I’m really working on mellowing out the people pleasing voices in my head
Some of these things have been energizing me for a long time, some even since I was a little girl, and some of these things are completely NEW.
As we change, and our version of what makes us happy changes, what energizes us changes.
A Reminder for You(And Me)…
What energizes you is personal, and it is going to be different for all of us. We do plenty of things in life that don’t bring us energy, SO it is important to give ourselves the gift of doing something that does bring us energy regularly. Don’t force your career to be the sole provider of energy in your life. It is okay for your job to just to be a job, and it is also okay for your job to bring you a whole lot of joy and energy. Where you get energy from is different for EVERYONE.
Take inventory regularly, and follow your energy!
