Glossier Super Glow(the current Vitamin C Serum I am using and loving), My jade roller, The Face Shop Rice Water Light Cleansing Oil(I have been using this as step one of a two cleanse at night and it is amazing!)
Hi friends!
I am excited to be sharing one of my favorite parts of my skincare routine today: jade rolling! I have been jade rolling for a few months now and I quickly realized that this would stick as part of my routine for the long haul.
Jade rolling has been used as a part of Chinese medicine for centuries. Originally jade was used on members of society to make you feel balanced. Today we use jade a little differently but for the most part we are still hoping for the same balanced goal. The jade roller we use today is a stone mounted on a small roller(more to come on use later!).
BENEFITS:
Reduces Undereye Darkness/Wrinkles
Undereye darkness is mostly genetic, but we all know certain things(cough not enough sleep) and stress can make dark circles more prevalent. Under eye wrinkles are also a hot button for me because I can see baby wrinkles starting to form in my undereye area. Cue a cold jade roller. I like to keep my jade roller in the fridge, then when you roll the cooling sensation can actually skrink your blood vessels.
Lymphatic Drainage/Relives Sinus Pressure
Your lymphatic nodes are what causes most puffiness around your eye and cheek area(especially if you have alleriges!). Drainage then occurs naturally, it is when your body is circulating the waste from your nodes back into your system. But sometimes your body can get backed up, especially during allergy season or when you have a cold and it can cause minor discomoft and puffiness in your face. Focus your rolling around your eye and cheek area regularly and I guarantee you will feel some sinus relief(and be less puffy!)
Helps with Absorption of Skincare Products
This is what initially sold me on trying out jade rolling! I love my nighttime skincare routine, but sometimes I am going through the motions when I am already feeling sleepy. Even when I am tired I am hesitant to go through my routine too quickly, after all I want my serums to be fully absorbed. I use my jade roller after my serums have been applied and they absorb so quickly.
My Experience/Routine:
I use my jade roller religiously every night and also most mornings. When I first started I was in love with the feeling of the cool roller on my face. I knew I would stick with this because it helped me relax. And then came the other benefits and I was hooked.
The ideal time to use a jade roller is after you have cleansed and applied serum, then after you roll apply moisturizer. Be sure to roll in all directions and to be very gentle around your eye area(and don’t forget to roll in an upward motion on your neck!)
