If you’re new around here, I LOVE skincare. In particular anything that will help me provide future Katelyn with even better skin. So of course I use sunscreen diligently. After all what is the point of all those fancy anti-aging products(including my precious retinol) if we are exposing our skin to harmful rays that age our skin every single day?
If you are already using sunscreen daily, woohoo! But If you aren’t NOW is the time to start.
Let me start by saying I get it, picking a sunscreen can be intimidating. There are SO many options and the words used on the packaging can be beyond confusing. The direct feedback I got from YOU is your biggest concern when trying a new sunscreen is you’ll break out or your skin will get greasy. BOY have I been there. On a whole my skin is normal to oily, meaning after a full day of work I look in the mirror and my face pretty much looks like an oil slick(no matter how many mattifying products I use). I have used countless different sunscreen products on my skin throughout the years, and I have finally found two products that are my ride or die.
FAQ’s
Chemical vs. Mineral? Does it matter? In the perfect world yes, but I personally have not had much luck the mineral sunscreens I have tried. So I use a chemical sunscreen and touch up with a mineral formula.
What number do I need to look for? Max utility peaks at around spf 30-35, so there is really no reason to use a sunscreen with a higher number than 35.
When do I apply SPF during my routine? Make it the last step in your skincare routine, OR the first step in your makeup routine.
What about moisturizer with sunscreen? It is most effective to use a sunscreen product independent of your moisturizer. BUT if you have fallen in love with a hybrid formulas already I completly understand.

The Two Products I Use Daily
This light as a feather, non-pore clogging formula melts into your skin making you forget you are even wearing sunscreen. Not only does the formula protect you from harmful rays but also neutralizes free radicals. Most importantly this products leaves behind zero white cast.
2. Brush On Block Sunscreen Powder
This brush on mineral sunscreen lives in my purse. I use it to reapply about halfway through my day. I love that it is an all in one formula, and goes on completely clear. Plus it doesn’t make my makeup cakey.
