Hi friends!
Happy Spring!
It may still be on average 30 degrees in Chicago but with the longer days and bigger doses of sunshine we’ve been getting lately I can tell warm weather is on the horizon.
With warm weather and the change in seasons comes my favorite part, busting out my warm weather wardrobe that I have been neglecting for the last six months! I am so excited to wear open toed shoes, rompers, sundresses, espadrilles(you get the picture I could go on and on).
As I bust out my old favorites I like to give my old pieces a new feel by adding some accessories(and a few staples) to my wardrobe that will keep my outfits fresh and fun all spring long. Cue the below items I am too excited to be wearing!
1. STRAW BAGS
Straw bags have literally been everywhere, and it’s barely the start of spring. They work with just about any outfit because they are neutral, come in all shapes in styles, and add some texture to an outfit.
I snagged the one in my photos from Amazon, and accidentally ordered two! (I am going to be giving one away, you can enter on my Insta through Friday!) Below are a few others(side note, is anybody else living for the round bag trend as much as I am??)
2. WHITE/COLORFUL DENIM
Now we all know white jeans are what summer outfit dreams are made of. I have bought a pair every year for say the last 5 years and always end up despising them(the fit is wrong, they are see through, the bottoms get dirty). SO this year I have vowed to invest in a pair I will actually love and have had my eyes on a pair at Madewell(linked below).
Aside from white jeans colorful denim is a trend I can definitely get behind. This trend is easiest to wear in the form of a jacket or a cute skirt/dress. Speaking of skirts I also plan to be living in a denim skirt this summer(& 8th grade Katelyn could not be happier about it).
3. POLKA DOTS
Polka dots just might be the trend I am most excited about this spring. A polka dot wrap skirt, graphic tee and retro trainers is the daytime outfit of my spring dreams. Don’t worry I will 100% be doing an entire post on this look.
Polka dots give every look a girly, classic edge so depending on what Im going for I will either pair it with a classic top or something more edgy(like a graphic tee.)
4. RETRO TRAINERS
Retro trainers are my favorite thing to shop for on this list. There are sooo many cute pairs, and they are EVERYWHERE. I recently popped into DSW and holy moly it was athleisure heaven.
My favorite retro trainers have a super sporty vibe, but are more soft and neutral in the color scheme(yes blush is a neautral to me). Trainers are perfect with any sort of jeans and also super cute with a simple dress!
Cheers(pretend I said this while sitting on a patio)!
